A Swift Podcast Starting In March

The Type Safely podcast with Adrian Eves and Rob Sturgeon will return with a Swift & SwiftUI examples and iOS developer interviews.

The podcast came first, and is the reason this newsletter exists.

The podcast will always be free for anyone on any platform.

This newsletter is always going to provide a free subscription option, but this involves changing what the free subscription actually provides.

As we’re approaching 50 Daily Coding Tips, most of you probably have a good idea of what to expect from the newsletter.

Occasionally I take one of my Daily Coding Tips and republish it on somewhere like my Medium profile or my personal Substack. This version may be longer and more in depth.

It may be virtually identical to the original tip.

I’m now doing this a few times a week, whenever I feel that one of the daily tips is long enough and useful enough for a wider audience.

If you want to get a SwiftUI or Swift tutorial several times a week, on a schedule I decide, feel free to stay as a free subscriber.

If you choose to upgrade a paid subscription, you’ll also get a SwiftUI or Swift tutorial several times a week, on a schedule I decide.

But you’ll also keep getting Daily Coding Tips in your inbox.

In other words, you’ll get 7 tutorials a week, every week, as you’ve been enjoying it so far.

Substack requires a minimum monthly payment of $5 for paid subscribers to cover their costs, so I can’t charge any less than that for a paid subscription.

Running the newsletter actually costs me money at the moment, as I bought the domain typesafely.link to allow it to be possible to access tips by number, like 001.typesafely.link.

If you pay to subscribe, I can at least break even so that I can cover my expenses.

To sum up, the last Daily Coding Tips will be:

  • Friday 12th February 2021 (today in my time zone)

  • Saturday 13th February 2021

  • Sunday 14th February 2021

  • Monday 15th February 2021

Free tier:

  • Occasional tutorials*

Paid tier:

  • Guaranteed free Daily Coding Tips

  • Occasional tutorials*

  • Other exclusive content I haven’t decided on yet!

*Probably at least once a week most of the time

I hope this is acceptable to everyone. If you have any feedback about this change, let me know at typesafely@substack.com.

After Daily Coding Tip 050, I will stop writing daily tips.

I will start writing them again when I get my first paid subscriber, and I will continue to write them as long as I have at least one paid subscriber.

If no one signs up I won’t have anyone to send them to, so I’ll just take a much needed break!

Thanks for being my first free subscribers.

I really mean it when I say that it makes me happy to know you enjoy my content and want to stick around, whether you ever pay me or not.
